I addressed the "you already have this" bit in the original thread.

And like…the cake is a lie, you know? This is the independent social internet, we can decide how we want it to work. So many people have bounced off Mastodon because strangers swarm their posts to instruct them, chide them, and be low-to-high-key racist and misogynist.

I'd love to have those people here, and I think telling them to post private if they don't want constant heckling is lousy.
