I just ran further than I ever have in my life
Started nervous with some resistance. Finished strong.
Body Check (During the Run):
- Right Achilles tight
- Left shin splint
- Right hip flexor sore
- Left patella ached early on but as the run progressed warmed up
- Right hamstring – slight cramping at 13km
Post-Run:
- Achilles and foot: super tender
- Hamstrings: cooked
- Patella: settled
- Electrolyte loading before helped
- Next time: electrolytes during too
Mind starts chattering at around 13km saying to throw in the towel. But every time doubt shows up, I smile. I look up.
The sun is shining. Waves are crashing beside me. Reminding myself that this is the exact life my past self dreamed of.
I’m running along the coast, on a beautiful morning, chasing personal bests. How goods this? What a privilege
Finished strong. Exhausted, but alive. Grateful.
Electrolyte loading before the run helped a lot. For next time, I’ll bring some along the way too. Lessons learned.
Main Takeaway? We’re more capable than we think. Sometimes, you just need to say yes to the unknown and send it!
