Theory:
Elon received a Wells notice for pumping and dumping Doge during his SNL appearance, and initially reacted by scrubbing his timeline from all Doge related Tweets (he did do this). Then, upon further reflection, he worried scrubbing those Tweets may appear as an admission of guilt, so went with the opposite tactic of pushing Doge in everyone’s feed as a rebellion.
It was never about actually liking Doge, it was only ever about boosting his ego and perhaps making a legal case for himself (that he sincerely likes Doge).
