I am trying to intentionally create bits of infrastructural code-as-art, to figure out weird corner cases and novel ways at looking at interesting problems, *not* just make sure that some megacorp's infra that depends on something I wrote 20 years ago doesn't come crashing down catastrophically. I *also* do that, but it really, really should not be the _only_ thing that I, or "open source 'maintainers'" writ large, do. Don't just pay the maintainers. Pay the designers!
