We can be sure of one thing. The weeks and months after election day in the USA will be messy and confusing. Probably a lot of lawsuits, protests, recounts, maybe even violence. The only thing that can prevent that is a clear win by one of the candidates which isn't likely. With a narrow margin any party can sow doubt about the outcome. Trump will have learned from the last election and probably has a playbook ready with various actions.
