🦠 #Pneumococci - the main cause of #pneumonia - damage the lungs in a different way than previously thought. As researchers from #CharitéBerlin have now shown, the bacteria acidify their environment and thus disintegrate the tissue barrier. The findings may open up new therapeutic approaches.
