Hot take: US #bicycle companies do not know how to make bicycles for the people. I mean easy to maintain, practical, durable bicycles. A commuter bicycle with which you run common errands needs a kickstand, a rack, fenders, and a dynamo. You can easily get these in Europe for around €1500. In the US you will need to do a custom build and it will be hard to find a frame that supports a kickstand in the back.
