Kwara, Oyo stakeholders resolve lingering Yoruba/Ibaruba crisis

Stakeholders in Kwara and Oyo have resolved the communal dispute between indigenes and non-indigenes in some Baruten communities of Kwara state. Recent misunderstandings resulted in riots, property loss, injuries, and loss of lives. At a meeting attended by the Okere of Saki, Ibà of Kisi, and a delegation of the Baruba and Yoruba communities, the leader of the Kwara state delegation reiterated the commitment of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq-led administration to sustainable peace. The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly acknowledged the support of the Emirs of Òkúta, Ilesha-Baruba, Yashikira, and Gwanara. Member representing Irepo/Orelope/Olorunsogo federal constituency of Oyo state in the House of Representatives, Prince Olaide Lateef Mohammed, appealed to people of Baruten local government area of Kwara state and their Yoruba neighbors to unite and prioritize peace and unity.
