The guy sounds Asian. He's 21 years old.
Minecraft scared him because he thought if he left the game forever that meant he didn't know if he did enough in it to make an impact and that made him question if he died IRL if he had done enough too. Weird.
It had nothing to do with Minecraft itself being scary. I was hoping for a video essay on why Notch based the game on the Lovecraft mythos. Disappoint.
