so I only discovered after I'd married my hairdresser, who'd been cutting my hair twice a month for a good 7 years, that tipping hairdressers was actually the usual thing. A bit embarrassing as I always tipped waitrons etc but for some reason I never thought of it for hairdressers (and I even got a good head massage before the cut)....
