So I've been poking around and learning about the #fediverse and predominantly #Mastodon for the past week or so, trying to get a feel for it. I honestly wish I could recommend to my friends using other social media platforms to migrate across but as of yet I just can't.
For most people, there is literally too much choice. Not just in which community to call home (shout out to the Cortex Implant chooms!), but in the platform, which flavour of the platform, and even which client to choose - all with a myriad of different feature-sets and interfaces.
For the hackers, makers, tinkerers and techies this is great as we can literally choose our own adventure and scratch that itch to play with stuff. But for most people that isn't social media.
They want a polished experience that they can log into and know that it's The Experience, and just use it to talk with friends and family, and share memes.
