My experience is a mix of Tim Bray (npub19ua…53cv)’s and Charlie Stross (npub1dnd…hzjs)’s. Generally good, including encouragement and support from senior editors during an edit war. I mostly make random small improvements, but have authored a handful of articles. But I’m thinking of one fairly extensive article, where I *am* a domain expert, that’s such a hot mess that I have no idea where to start. In another context, I’d rewrite it from scratch, but that’s of course a nonstarter for Wikipedia. I recognize similar pages from time to time where I’m not an expert, but my incremental-improvement approach feels like bailing out the ocean with a spoon (or however that cliche goes). Naetheless, and needless to say, it’s an invaluable resource.
