I think it just divides the east and west hemispheres. Same as those equator lines you see in a number of countries where people step across between north and south hemispheres. A more accurate line (IERS Reference Meridian) is used today based on gps data, which divides the Earth in half longitudinally about 100m east of the Prime Meridian at Greenwich. Need to check if there’s anything to stand across over there too 😄
