I feel like i've met both kinds of people who study philosophy. There's the people who actively recognize everything they're doing is futile and do it anyway, but there are some philosophers who don't acknowledge it but know it on some level. They're like people who are convinced their wings are real and feathered but still anxious (in a way that would be labeled neurotic) that their real wings will melt off.
