a lot of people want to tell me that this "wrong" mental model of git is wrong and bad. I think that:
1. it's pretty common for folks to have a "wrong" model of git
2. "wrong" mental models can be extremely useful and take you a long way
3. it's important to me to understand exactly what the “wrong" mental model is so that I can figure out what its limitations are (and when it's actually Just Fine!)
4. also I want to know if there's just one "wrong" mental model for git or many
