#WritersCoffeeClub 22 Oct: What's your favorite writing convention to eschew?

I don't know if it's a convention, and I don't always avoid it , but: I dislike the notion of needing high stakes. There's so much stake inflation out there!
It makes me want to write the lowest-stakes story possible and get readers to care.
