My first impulse is to say "hmm, surely that means it's time to get its refresh button working", but then it occurs to me that someone else pressing that button doesn't help you see the messages that you've overlooked so far -- in fact it would actively interfere with that.
Ergonomic design is always so much harder than I think it will be.
