Very often this is absolutely the case. It’s endlessly frustrating, and undermines a man’s sense of security and sanity. I can’t even imagine what it’d be like truly below the poverty line for any extended length of time; I’ve never been what I’d consider “loaded” but we’ve never, say, had to go without utilities for more than a couple days. It’s just absolutely demoralizing knowing that keeping everyone in your house from killing each other, could very well land you in the county pokey.
