This is the second year that this highly leucistic Fox Sparrow has shown up at Jericho park here in Vancouver.

It's thought birds with leucism have shorter lifespans given they're more obvious to predators.

I don't know of any research that proves or disproves the claim, given the variability and rarity of leucism as well as the difficulty of tracking a leucistic bird throughout its lifespan.

If anyone knows any relevant research, please let me know.
