Election time in the U.S. is always interesting. (In a Hitler is coming sort of way, lately.)
I'm patient with kids who don't know what's happening. Until you've seen, as a politically aware adult of whatever age, two full terms of the Liberal party vs the Conservative party running the nation, you might plausibly be unclear on how vast the differences are. (Again, particularly lately.)
But past about 30 there's rarely an excuse.
