i mean EEPROM... i'd guess they used an array of chips that it stored blocks of data onto it, you really can't use a spinning disk in a circa 1970 spacecraft, it would simply be too much power, it would have to be static ram and an array of write-once circuits and rom code with the network protocol system on it... if the sensors and processor managed to keep working for some time but the network system failed they may have interesting data, othewise, probably won't be much in it.

the networking circuits would be more vulnerable to failure than the sensors so i'm optimistic they have *some* data but probably it's going to be quite past the point where anything new is learned.
