Netflix lost one million users in Spain following its password-sharing crackdown.
That’s according to data Bloomberg obtained from analytics group Kantar, which says subscription cancellations in Spain tripled in the first quarter of 2023 when compared to the same time last year. Meanwhile, one-tenth of the country’s remaining subscribers say they plan on canceling in the future.
While Netflix says it expects this kind of “cancel reaction” in Spain, Portugal, Canada, New Zealand, and the other countries where it rolled out anti-password sharing rules, one million users seem like a pretty big loss.
