From what I have seen these last years with new generations of developers —let us say those under 30— Emacs simply does not exist.
They may have heard of it, but it's perceived as some kind of relic used only by old grey beards.
Funny thing is that those who see experienced Emacs users work are absolutely amazed by what is possible. But you cannot compete with the massive marketing campaign of VS Code (and one should not try).
