DSWD transitions to cash aid for calamity-stricken families
==========
The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Davao Region (DSWD-Davao) is providing emergency cash transfer assistance to families affected by weather disturbances in the region. They have already provided 474,523 family food packs and 3,322 non-food items to affected families. Now that the flood has subsided and stores have reopened, the DSWD is transitioning from food aid to cash assistance. The DSWD has implemented the Emergency Cash Transfer in Davao del Norte with a target of 70,000 beneficiaries, but there are plans to increase the number of beneficiaries based on data from the Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC). Cash distribution has already started in Davao Oriental, and more than 100,000 families in the province are expected to receive the cash assistance. The DSWD is facilitating the final list of beneficiaries in Davao de Oro. All families affected directly or indirectly by the disaster will receive the cash assistance. The amount of assistance is computed based on the minimum wage rate of the region and the number of days allocated, ranging from 15 to 30 days. The DSWD facilitates the cash distribution directly to beneficiaries.
