Okay this is pretty cool. Here's data from the JWST and MeerKAT radio telescope. This is taken neat the core of the Milky Way, where our supermassive black hole sits. There's tons of gas here, yet star formation is low. Of course, astronomers wanted to know why. Turns out that the strong magnetic fields in the region may prevent stars from forming: the magnetic fields prevent the collapse of gas by resisting the gravitational fierce that causes it!
