It occurs to me that tangled within the roots of this poisonous tree is the idea that governance should be about control and dominance.
That idea will always fruit as death and misery.
But there are other trees in this orchard, ones rooted in connection, kindness, and love even for the stranger. I hope for the day we see those trees in bloom.
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
