Hey friends, it's been an interesting few weeks IRL, so there’s not been time for creative pursuits. But since it’s #ThrowbackThursday let’s go back to 1986 for another school project.

It seems that my science project from that year is lost to the sands of time (i.e., nobody took a picture of it) so instead we have a Social Studies project. We had to pick a country to report on (and yes, the board and all was required) so what do I go and do? I pick the USSR, of course. Yea, in 1986.

I wrote to the USSR’s embassy in DC asking for info, and they sent me a 2-inch thick envelope full of stuff. BTW, the word “stuff” is actually pronounced “propaganda” haha. I was probably put on a list because of that. 😆 The nested doll and the plaque were memorabilia from the 1980 Moscow Olympics (boycotted by many western countries because of the Soviet-Afghan war, oh the irony) on loan from a friend of my parents’ who somehow managed to acquire them. The smallest of the dolls was only about 1 cm tall. They let me keep the plaque.
