Once again I see people in the media (the commentariat) are scrambling to find some good news in the current #economic data, and as so often the fallback position is 'we're not doing so badly, we're still the sixth richest country in the world'....
so at the risk of repeating myself.
This is nonsense: at the very least look at the GDP per capita data which 'corrects' for population size. Here the UK is around the mid 20s in ranking, which goes some way to expelling our overall economic plight!
