I'm in close proximity to mine all the time and I don't even tan, there's so little UV-B.
Metal Halide spectrum is close to sunlight, but remember sunlight is close to 1kW/m2 at the top of the atmosphere, and often >700W/m2 on the ground.
My biggest globes are only 600W total, and far from 100% efficient. But they light up a room for work like nothing else.
