My home office is a finished shed in my back yard, and it gets pretty hot in the summer. I just got a portable AC unit for it, but as my desk is next to the window, I spent the last few evenings building a vent through the soffit. Unfortunately it restricted the exhaust too much, which caused the compressor to cut out.
After spending many days on the problem, and many trips to the hardware store, I gave up and just moved my desk away from the window. The simplest solutions are often the best.
