drove out today to Port Townsend, about an hour away, chasing a bird. A couple of days ago, a red-footed booby was reported and decided to start hanging out. checked ebird this morning and there were already reports of it, so I went and chased.
As is often the case with birds like this, I reached the location and looked for the gaggle of birders festooned with scopes, cameras and binoculars. The bird was standing on a nearby boat, sleeping, head tucked, but the red feet were easily visible.
