its unclear what the exact rules are, cops, DVLA (equivalent of DMV), and NHS all need to talk to one another and they don't do this at quick timescales, and DVLA have been known to move the goalposts on whether they consider ADHD and autism to be notifiable conditions for driving.
Currently they pass the work on to the patients GP (who of course isn't a driving instructor), and the patient is kept waiting for some time for decisions from anyone..
