I "fully" understand where you're coming from.
There's definitely experiences I would "love" to partake in that are basically reserved for those who can both afford to bankroll the trip (moreso if you're not in the US) and have to ability to pre-plan that finance and block of time in advance. The jealousy you're referring to specifically of feeling like you're missing out on a short vacation where a part of your personality can just shine so brightly, outwardly... nude, is entirely valid when that doesn't have an alternative.
I just completely ignored this space for the entire duration of BFC (did the same thing with CAP this year), otherwise I just get super down on myself, however selfish that might come across.
