This is why I leave certain accounts unmuted - I then see who interacts with a non-productive topic & mute away.
Some accounts have never interacted with me - yet they're muted.
This is a way to tailor your Nostr experience before you waste your time connecting / debating someone who you basically already don't respect based on the content they're attracted to.
A mosquito light strategy, if you will.
