There is no evidence that music is forbidden according to Quran, ahadith. There is no mention of music in the Quran, the ahadith evidence is mixed. Classical jurists were okay with certain instruments that's why Rumi was a musician. Like Sufis the most orthodox of orthodoxy and other Muslims. Music flourished in Islamic societies. But not Salfis want to deny history.
