I don't think it's delta p. That has to do with two areas under water, one high pressure, the other low pressure. If he was under water working and knocked a hole into a lower pressure pipe, the delta p would suck him in.
This looks like his arms went in, he pulled his arms out, lost balance, legs went in, and then he hit the warp zone to 8-1.
