Ok, I'm going to presume you know how a thread based forum works, because you are still (kind of) technically on one.
Now when you have more than one discussion going on at once, either quoting one thread's post in another, or calling out one of the conversants into another thread to carry on the conversation from the prior thread in the new one, or about another thread, is considered cross posting.
Such behavior generally ends in disrupted threads, and flame wars. Fortunately, thread "forking" in modern social media software helps mitigate this, but it does not completely suppress the bad habit.
