The British Retail Consortium - a trade body which represents shops - will hold an emergency meeting following #UKRiots on high streets and a falling footfall.
Chief Exec Helen Dickinson tells BBC Breakfast the "big focus" is safety for both the customers and staff in retail locations. She added there may be some shorter opening hours and temporary closures in shops.
