The Iranian hackers Seyyed Mohammad Hosein Musa Kazemi and Sajjad Kashian were charged with election interference by the FBI in November 2021. A potential crisis arose from the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) allowing foreign voter manipulation. The Democrats’ plan to register 9 million UOCAVA voters appears unrealistic as there are only 2.8 million eligible voters. The hackers accessed voter data, sent threatening messages, and attempted to influence the 2020 Presidential Election. The threats to U.S. election security posed by the hackers remain ongoing.
