Immediate abolition of the state is likely to result in the creation of some sort of replacement state structure to maintain order and safety, with the possibility of this replacement state being reactionary and crushing all revolutionary efforts to create a stateless and classless society, which is why creating a transitional socialist state with the intent of furthering the efforts of creating a stateless classless society is a far more practical and less risky path to take.
