Ok! Wasn't a scam! Just a sign on offer for joining the gym and it was a good offer.

I ultimately didn't go through with it because:<li>gym was too far away (more than I realized by looking at maps beforehand)</li><li>the process for canceling at this gym was more than just telling them to cancel the membership</li><li>the specific workout did not fit my body constraints</li>

That said! It was a cool place with solid folks. So hopefully others can take advantage of it.

I'm off to look at a gym closer to me! Wish me luck!
