Yeah, and it's a major one. There are tons of places in Appalachia and the Rockies where a single, small two lane bridge can mean the difference in a 30 minute drive and 2-6 hour drive to groceries. Sometimes, there's no alt route. Loads of small bridges over creek beds or smaller rivers host major amounts of traffic that are vital to local economies where lots of people commute in all over the creek-heavy Southern US.

It's not necessarily dire from a national perspective, but it can depress and shape local economies and that can contribute to knock-on problems.
