We sacrificed for private (mid-range, not super-fancy) and he placed 4th in JV in our state in senior year. He also rode for his college, but broke 5 ribs in year 3 and swore off competition. But he rides almost daily still.
I'm proud that he is always striving. One doesn't have to be #1, just have joy and effort.
