This may seem contrary to my views on protagonists mercing people. But my view has always been, for the guy to make sense killing people. They have to actually go through the one bad day. They can't just be the dogged nice guy and start killing people, while they still have the "aww shucks I'm such a nice guy" personality. That shit would be creepy.
But these are idiots who think every plot should be fist fight for 50 episodes, with a sermon about how it's not too late to do the right thing. Their minds are warped by shitty story telling of battle shounen.
