npub1wmxkpg2frd0c6gnp447kursvrlezqsgch498muute4wdsgewnmjqfm4slz (npub1wmx…4slz)This doesn't seem like a great idea on its face from our perspective. Some reasons:
- voting (especially majority voting) isn't inherently radical
- democratic decisions aren't bound to be much better than relatively unilateral ones, especially when the goal is just to have lots of people have some kind of input without meaningful education of this crowd *beforehand*
- "mods, admins, founders etc would have to be diverse" translates in practice to "a small group of oppressed peoppe need to put up with untold amounts of bullshit For The Good Of The Fediverse"
- the kinds of resources & intensive work it would take to set something like this up might be better directed towards several much smaller instances
All that said, is this idea worse than the status quo? Not sure.
But really, taking the coordination, time, money, etc. this would require & putting it into creating smaller instances+better software instead just seems better.
But if you or others have thought of ways to address these points or other relevant angles we'll listen.
