Zun himself does mostly great at balancing the more intricate world and darker bits with the silliness of what Gensokyo is, but not everyone does the same. Good example being Zounose's works, where characters are often overdone, races that have no need for eating human do anyways, and plots are often contrived to make people act more violent or darker than usual. This one really exemplifies the issue, far too violent and overdone for my taste.
