During the right-wing supporting occupation of Ottawa in 2022, roughly half the donations to the occupiers seemed to come from the US. Add to this the partisan endorsements by Trump, Musk, and other notable rightwing Americans after decades of non-interference.
The Liberal Party is a supporter of capitalism, but it also supports public healthcare, welfare, senior support, child support, full women autonomy over their bodies, LGBTQA, and personal liberty. The new leader, elected Sunday, was the governor of both the Bank of Canada during the mortgage crisis of 2018, and the Bank of England just prior to and through Brexit (he cautioned against Brexit). He has also written a popular book on the monetary system and beyond, "Value(s), Building a Better World for All". He was elected in the belief that he would be best suited to weather the coming storm brought by Trump. His two main opponents were highly experienced women who were both excellent candidates, but I feel that voters were concerned how Trump's open misogyny would affect any negotiations.
The third major party, the New Democrat Party, is akin to traditional Labour parties. Unfortunately there are voters who remember the NDP origins as a communism-supporting party which limits their support. The Liberals and NDP together regularly get ⅔rds of the vote, but sometimes the Conservatives can pull enough votes from the Liberals to win the national election and form government.
