Imagine that instead of vandalising historical artifacts, the cultural revolutionaries had changed the environment around them. Adding plaques, or new art works, pointing out how the dragon symbolised the ancient autocratic traditions the Chinese people had broken free of, not once but three times. Once in the uprising against the Last Emperor, again in their defence against the invading Japanese, and then against Chiang Kai-sheck's KMT.
