If dedicated enough, you can use adb commands to open and navigate through apps, and even send key presses (adb shell sendevent), **BUT** it's quite tedious.
Personally, I switched to apps that have a backup option, and use scripts for fresh device install. If interested, I could list those apps along with my install reinstall script.
