Is it just straight/gay, though? The complaints I've heard about Hayton, in addition to concern for his wife (which would not exist for a gay man) include the fact that the exposes schoolchildren to his fetish and that he uses women's facilities. If Shapeshifter does these things (?), then he deserves the same criticism.
However, yes, I think most GC feminists prefer gay trannies to straight ones.
Due to the concept of the "homosexual transsexual," we have been led to believe that this type of man becomes "trans" because he misunderstands what being attracted to men, while also not being stereotypically masculine, means. Is this the most common reason for a gay man to be "trans"? I don't know. It makes sense. People who are attracted to men are usually women. People who are not masculine are usually women. Neither of these reasons seem vomit-inducing. Such a misunderstanding just seems sad.
AGPs are often masculine, and are attracted to women. Most of us are not aware -- and I am not aware -- of any reason such a man would consider himself to be a woman except for the pleasure he experiences while wearing women's clothing, viewing pornography, and masturbating. A woman's natural reaction to these things will usually be revulsion.
How to sort through all the other categories of "trans" (sports cheats, trend followers, etc.) is, of course, another question.
The Hayton haters on Spinster seem to hate "the worst ones" (Rachel Levine, all the rapists, etc.), as well.
Meanwhile, Andrew Doyle is concerned that GC feminists are biased against gay men, so perspectives abound.
FWIW, I would like to see a lot more focus on government and institutions. I don't even like to focus too much on the low-level "worst ones" (e.g., criminals). I will take a moment to comment on those here and there, but I mostly want government, employers, universities, and other entities to have laws and policies that reflect reality.
